“When I was in elementary school, we had to do a survey that asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Most people picked normal jobs. I picked rapper,” laughed Beal. “Ever since then, that’s what I’ve wanted to do, and I’ve been actively pursuing it.”
Originally from Patterson, New Jersey, Beal moved to Winchester, Virginia with his mom in 2008 for a better life—a move he doesn’t regret one bit.
“Where I’m from people die every other two weeks to be honest with you,” stated Beal. “My mom and I were poor. We lived with my grandmother. She then got a job at Ford Motor Company in Virginia making more than twice the amount of money she was making back home. It’s just better down here.”
It’s his past, however, that has served as the inspiration for many of his lyrics—including on his debut EP.
“Most rappers rap about money, girls and fancy clothes,” stated Beal. “I rap about my struggles and how my mom and I are living better today.”
Countless hours and hard work went into producing his first major project, but in the end he believes fans of hip hop music will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
“I describe my sound as ‘hype music’ and very energetic,” stated Beal. “I put about 12 hours into my music every other day. I hope when people hear my music, they can’t wait to hear more. I don’t want to be a one-hit-wonder.”
